Description

Product Overview

This is a home-style cereal powder made in Bangladesh. The maker lists the ingredients openly, which is more than most listings of this kind do: raisins, cashew, almond, pistachio, peanut, walnut, dates, five kinds of rice, five kinds of lentil, corn, sago and cardamom, each cleaned and prepared separately before being ground and blended.

Cooked into a porridge with milk or water, it makes a filling, energy-dense meal — grains and pulses for carbohydrate and plant protein, nuts and dates for fat, sweetness and minerals.

Contains Nuts – Read This First

This product contains peanuts, cashews, almonds, pistachios and walnuts. That is not a trace or a “may contain” — they are among the main ingredients.

  • Do not give it to a child with a nut or peanut allergy.
  • If your child has never eaten nuts, introduce them separately, in small amounts, before offering a mix like this — so that if there is a reaction you know what caused it.
  • Stop feeding and get medical help if you see a rash, swelling around the mouth, repeated vomiting or any difficulty breathing. Difficulty breathing is an emergency.
  • Never serve it to another family’s child without telling them what is in it.
  • The nuts are ground to a powder and then cooked, so this is not a whole-nut choking risk — but check the cooked porridge is smooth before feeding a young baby.

About the “6 Months to 10 Years” Age Range

One powder cannot be equally right for a six-month-old and a ten-year-old, and the wide range on the listing is a selling point rather than a nutritional statement.

Read it as: this is a family cereal that older children can eat happily, and that a baby from around six months can also be given in a very small, well-thinned, well-cooked portion. For a young baby the sensible approach is a teaspoon or two of thin porridge, introduced after single foods have been tried one at a time — and only if nuts have already been introduced safely.

Before You Start Solids

Breast milk is the best food for a baby, and for the first six months it is the only food a baby needs. WHO and Bangladesh’s national infant-feeding guidance both recommend exclusive breastfeeding for six months, then breastfeeding alongside solid food up to two years and beyond.

Complementary food is an addition to milk at around six months, not a replacement for it. Starting solids does not mean stopping breastfeeding.

If your baby is under six months, or was born early, or is not gaining weight as expected, talk to a doctor or a health worker before starting any solid food. They can look at your baby; a packet cannot.

This Is Not a Milk Replacement

An infant cereal is a complementary food. It is fed in addition to breast milk or formula, in small amounts, once or twice a day to begin with. Milk stays the main source of nutrition for the whole of the first year.

Filling a baby up on cereal so they take less milk is a common and serious mistake. If your baby is drinking noticeably less milk after starting solids, cut the solids back and speak to a health worker.

Key Features

  • Locally prepared cereal powder, ingredients listed by the maker
  • Nuts: cashew, almond, pistachio, peanut, walnut
  • Grains and pulses: five kinds of rice, five kinds of lentil, corn, sago
  • Also raisins, dates and cardamom
  • Each ingredient cleaned and prepared separately before blending
  • Cooked into a porridge rather than mixed cold
  • Contains nuts and peanuts

How to Prepare It

  1. Wash your hands; use a clean pan, bowl and spoon.
  2. Mix two or three spoons of the powder into two cups of milk or water, while it is still cold, so it does not go lumpy.
  3. Cook on a low heat, stirring, until it thickens and the raw taste has gone.
  4. Thin it further with milk or water for a young baby — much thinner than you would make it for an older child.
  5. Cool it and test the temperature on the inside of your wrist before feeding.
  6. Serve fresh. Throw away anything left in a child’s bowl.

Introducing a New Food

  • Start with one or two teaspoons once a day and build up over a week or two.
  • Introduce one new food at a time and wait about three days before adding another. If something disagrees with your baby you then know what it was.
  • A baby refusing a new food the first few times is normal, not a verdict. It often takes several tries.
  • Watch for a rash, swelling around the mouth, vomiting, diarrhoea or wheezing. Stop the food and get medical help if any of these appear, urgently if there is any difficulty breathing.
  • Never leave a baby alone while eating, and always feed sitting upright.

Hygiene Matters More Than the Brand

Most feeding-related illness in small children comes from the bowl, the spoon, the water and the hands — not from the food itself. Clean hands, clean utensils, safe water and food eaten fresh do more for your baby than any ingredient list.

Never feed prepared cereal that has been standing at room temperature for more than two hours, and never reheat a bowl your baby has already eaten from.

Storage

  • Store the pack somewhere cool and dry, out of direct sunlight. Do not refrigerate the dry powder — moisture ruins it.
  • Close it tightly after every use, or move it into a clean airtight container.
  • Use a dry spoon every time. One damp spoon turns the whole tin lumpy.
  • Once opened, most infant cereals are meant to be finished within two to four weeks — check the pack, and do not keep an opened pack to the printed expiry date.
  • If the powder smells off, looks discoloured or has hardened, throw it away.

Frequently Asked Questions

What exactly is in it?

Raisins, cashew, almond, pistachio, peanut, walnut, dates, five kinds of rice, five kinds of lentil, corn, sago and cardamom, as listed by the maker. Message us before ordering if you need this confirmed for an allergy — do not rely on a shop page for that.

Can it replace a meal for a baby?

No. For a baby it is one small complementary food among several, and milk remains the main source of nutrition through the first year. For an older child it works as a breakfast alongside ordinary family food.

Is it sweetened?

The sweetness comes from the dates and raisins rather than added sugar, as the maker describes it. Do not add sugar to a baby’s portion.

My baby is younger than the age on the pack. Can I still start?

Please don’t, and please ask a doctor first. The age on the pack is about how ready a baby’s gut and swallowing are, not about size or appetite. Solids before six months are recommended only where a health worker has advised it for that particular baby.

What if my baby reacts to it?

Stop feeding it and speak to a doctor. Get help urgently if there is swelling around the mouth, a spreading rash, repeated vomiting or any difficulty breathing. Introducing one new food at a time makes it much easier to tell what caused a reaction.

How should I store it after opening?

Tightly closed, somewhere cool and dry, and used within the two to four weeks the pack states. Always use a dry spoon. Do not put the dry powder in the fridge.
