Soap Bar or Body Wash?

They are not the same product in different packaging, and the difference matters more in this climate than most people realise:

• Traditional soap is alkaline. Skin is naturally slightly acidic, around pH 5.5, and true soap sits around pH 9-10. That is why soap leaves skin feeling tight and squeaky — it has stripped the skin’s own oils along with the dirt.

• A “beauty bar” or syndet bar is not soap. It is a synthetic cleanser pressed into a bar, formulated near skin pH, and it cleans without stripping.

• Body wash is generally the gentlest, and usually contains moisturisers that stay behind after rinsing.

• Stripped skin produces more oil. Washing harder to fix oiliness makes it worse over a few weeks.

If your skin flakes, itches or feels tight after a shower, the soap is the first thing to change.

Showering Well in Hot Weather

• Lukewarm water, not hot. Hot water strips more oil than any soap does.

• Keep it short. Ten minutes under hot water does more to dry skin than the product does.

• Pat dry, do not rub, and moisturise while the skin is still slightly damp — that is when it absorbs best.

• Dry the loofah or puff properly. A wet one left in the shower grows bacteria, and it should be replaced every few weeks.

• Do not share a bar of soap during a skin infection, and let bars dry between uses rather than sitting in water.

Is antibacterial soap better?

For ordinary daily washing, no. Plain soap and water removes germs perfectly well, and routine antibacterial use is not recommended for healthy skin. It has a place around a wound or an infection, on advice.

Can I use body wash on my face?

Occasionally, but facial skin is thinner and more reactive, and most body washes are stronger and more heavily fragranced than a face wash. A dedicated cleanser is better if your face is at all prone to breakouts.

Which is best for dry skin?

A cream body wash or a syndet beauty bar, lukewarm water, a short shower and a moisturiser applied within three minutes of getting out. That sequence matters more than which brand you pick.

How do I know the product is genuine?

Check the seal, the batch number and the expiry printed on the pack itself rather than on a sticker over it. Everything we sell is sourced to arrive sealed and within date, and if what you receive does not match the listing we will put it right.

How long does delivery take?
