First, Work Out What Kind of Loss It Is

This decides everything, and it takes ten seconds. Look at the strands coming out.

• A small white bulb at the end means the hair came from the root. That is shedding, and it is decided under the skin.

• No bulb, snapped ends means breakage. Conditioner, gentler handling and less heat genuinely fix that.

• Losing 50 to 100 hairs a day is normal. What is worth investigating is a noticeable increase, a widening parting, or a receding hairline.

The Causes That Are Actually Common Here

• Iron deficiency — very common, especially in women, and a leading cause of diffuse shedding.

• Thyroid problems — both under and over active.

• Illness, high fever, surgery or severe stress two to three months earlier. This is telogen effluvium: dramatic shedding, alarming, and it reverses on its own.

• Post-pregnancy shedding, which is normal and settles.

• Crash dieting and low protein.

• Traction from tight ponytails and braids — real, and eventually permanent.

• Pattern hair loss, which is genetic.

• A blood test is a better first step than a bottle. Most of that list is treatable, and treating the cause is what regrows hair.

What Products Genuinely Do

• Minoxidil is the topical treatment with strong evidence. It works for pattern hair loss, it takes four to six months, and it has to be continued.

• Caffeine, rosemary, biotin and peptide serums range from mildly promising to unproven. Worth trying, not worth relying on.

• Anti-hair-fall shampoos reduce breakage, which for many people is most of what they see in the drain.

• Supplements help only if you are deficient. Biotin deficiency is rare; taking biotin without it does nothing — and it interferes with thyroid and cardiac blood tests, so tell your doctor.

• Give anything three to four months. Hair grows about a centimetre a month.

For hair coming out in patches, sudden heavy shedding, a sore or scaly scalp, or loss with other symptoms like fatigue or weight change. Also if six months of sensible effort has changed nothing.

Does oiling stop hair fall?

It reduces breakage and soothes a dry scalp, which helps. It does not affect hair falling from the root, and heavy oil left on for days in this climate encourages dandruff.

Will a receded hairline grow back?

Realistically, no. Follicles that have miniaturised do not return with a topical product. That is a conversation for a dermatologist.

How do I know the product is genuine?
