Size is the specification that matters. A towel that wraps right around a baby lets you lift them out, contain them, and dry them without the flailing and the cold air that turn the end of a bath into a scream. A small hand towel does not do that.

How to Use

1. Have the towel open and within reach before the baby goes in the bath. Never leave a baby in water to fetch one.
2. Lift the baby straight into the open towel and wrap.
3. Pat dry rather than rubbing. Infant skin is thin and rubbing irritates it.
4. Dry the skin creases carefully — neck, armpits, groin, behind the knees.
5. Moisturise while the skin is still slightly damp.

Washing and Care

• Wash before first use.
• Do not use fabric softener. It coats the fibres and destroys absorbency — the single most common reason a good towel stops working.
• Wash at 60°C to keep it hygienic, and tumble or line dry fully.
• Do not put a damp towel back on a rail folded; it is how towels start to smell.
• Keep the baby’s towel separate from the family’s.

Bath Safety

• Never leave a baby alone in the bath, not even for a second. An infant can drown in a few centimetres of water and it happens silently. If you must answer the door or the phone, take the baby with you.
• Run cold water first, then add hot, and test the temperature with your elbow or wrist — around 37°C. Hands are poor thermometers.
• Keep one hand supporting the baby at all times.
• Wet bathroom floors and soapy babies are slippery. Have the towel within reach before you start.
• Bath seats and rings are not safety devices. They tip.
