Description

Product Overview

Senora Confidence Sanitary Napkin in a 15-pad pack, built on the panty system — the ordinary modern design with an adhesive strip that sticks to the gusset of your underwear.

The pad contains super absorbent polymer, which is the material that gives a modern pad its capacity.

What Super Absorbent Polymer Actually Does

This is the ingredient that separates a modern pad from a folded cloth, and it is worth understanding because it explains how to use one properly.

  • SAP is a gel that traps liquid and turns solid. Once absorbed, the liquid is locked into the gel rather than sitting free in the pad, which is why a good pad does not feel wet against the skin even when it has taken a lot.
  • That is also why “it still looks fine” is not a reason to keep wearing it. The surface can feel dry while the core is full. Change on the clock, not on the look.
  • SAP is what allows a pad to be thin and still absorbent. Thickness stopped being a guide to capacity a long time ago.

Belt System, Panty System and Wings

These three words describe how the pad stays in place, and they are not interchangeable.

  • Panty system is the ordinary modern pad. It has an adhesive strip on the back that sticks to the gusset of your underwear. Nothing else is needed.
  • Wings are the two flaps that fold around the sides of the underwear and stick underneath. They do two jobs: they hold the pad straight so it cannot shift, and they protect the edges of the underwear from side leaks. If you move a lot during the day, wings are worth having.
  • Belt system is the older design. The pad has loops at each end that attach to a separate elastic belt worn around the waist. It does not stick to underwear at all. It is still widely used and preferred by many people because nothing is glued to the fabric, but the belt is usually sold separately — check the pack before you buy your first one.

How Often to Change a Pad

  1. Change every four to six hours, even on a light day and even if the pad still looks usable. That is a hygiene interval, not an absorbency one.
  2. On a heavy day, change more often — every three to four hours is normal for the first two days.
  3. Wash your hands before and after. Both times.
  4. Wrap the used pad in its wrapper or in paper and put it in a bin. Never flush a pad; it does not break down and it blocks the line.
  5. Rinse with plain water and pat dry before the new pad goes on. Soap and intimate washes are not needed and often make irritation worse.
  6. Never use two pads at once to make one last longer. It does not work and it traps moisture against the skin.

Toxic shock syndrome is rare with pads — it is mainly associated with tampons left in too long — but a pad worn for many hours in a hot climate is still the main cause of period rash and itching. Sudden high fever, vomiting, dizziness and a sunburn-like rash during a period need emergency medical care, whichever product you are using.

Rash, Itching and Chafing

Period rash is heat and friction, not dirt. In Bangladesh’s climate it is very common and it is worth knowing what actually helps:

  • Change more often. A damp pad against skin for six hours is the single biggest cause.
  • Try an unscented pad. Perfumed pads smell pleasant in the packet and are a frequent cause of contact irritation in the people who react to them.
  • Cotton underwear, not synthetic, and not too tight.
  • Rinse with plain water at each change and dry properly before the new pad goes on.
  • Plain petroleum jelly or a barrier cream on the chafed area between changes.
  • Do not use antiseptic, soap or an intimate wash on broken skin. It stings, it strips the natural protective layer, and it makes the next day worse.

If the rash blisters, weeps, spreads, or comes back every single month, see a doctor — a fungal infection and a contact allergy look similar and are treated differently.

When a Period Needs a Doctor, Not a Bigger Pad

Buying a heavier pad is the right answer to a heavy day. It is the wrong answer to some things, and these are worth knowing:

  • Soaking through a pad every hour or two, for several hours in a row. That is medically heavy bleeding and it is a common cause of anaemia here.
  • Bleeding for more than seven days every cycle.
  • Clots larger than a 10-taka coin, repeatedly.
  • Pain that stops you going to work or school, or that painkillers do not touch.
  • Bleeding between periods, after sex, or after menopause.
  • Constant tiredness, breathlessness or dizziness during your period — that is what iron deficiency feels like, and it is treatable.

None of these means something is seriously wrong. All of them mean it is worth a doctor’s appointment rather than another year of managing it alone.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does it have wings?

It is sold as a panty system pad — an adhesive strip on the back. If you want wings for extra security at the sides, look for a pad that says wings on the pack.

Is 15 pads enough for one period?

For most people, yes, or very nearly. Most people use 10 to 20 across a period depending on flow and on how strictly they change every four to six hours.

Can I wear one overnight?

Yes, and an XL or overnight length is made for exactly that. Change it immediately before you sleep and immediately when you wake, and accept that a night counts as one long wear — that is why the extra length matters.

Scented or unscented?

Unscented, unless you have used a perfumed pad for years with no trouble. Perfume in a pad is a common cause of itching and contact irritation, and it does not solve odour — changing the pad does.

How should I store it?

Cool, dry, closed and out of direct sunlight. Not on a sunny windowsill and not in the hottest corner of the bathroom — heat and humidity degrade fragrance and active ingredients faster than anything else.
