Fly Jasmine XL, 5 pads — the belt system version, in XL, jasmine perfumed, with an airlaid and SAP core and a PE back sheet.
For anyone who prefers a belt to adhesive. The belt is normally bought separately.
Product Overview
Fly Sanitary Napkin, Jasmine XL — a 5-pad pack in the belt system, perfumed with jasmine, in the larger XL length.
Belt System, Panty System and Wings
These three words describe how the pad stays in place, and they are not interchangeable.
- Panty system is the ordinary modern pad. It has an adhesive strip on the back that sticks to the gusset of your underwear. Nothing else is needed.
- Wings are the two flaps that fold around the sides of the underwear and stick underneath. They do two jobs: they hold the pad straight so it cannot shift, and they protect the edges of the underwear from side leaks. If you move a lot during the day, wings are worth having.
- Belt system is the older design. The pad has loops at each end that attach to a separate elastic belt worn around the waist. It does not stick to underwear at all. It is still widely used and preferred by many people because nothing is glued to the fabric, but the belt is usually sold separately — check the pack before you buy your first one.
Why People Choose the Belt System
It is often called the old design, and a great many people prefer it deliberately:
- Nothing is glued to the fabric. No adhesive residue on the underwear, nothing marked, nothing that pulls when the pad comes off.
- It works with any underwear, including loose or older pairs where an adhesive strip will not hold.
- The belt holds the pad from the waist, so it cannot slide down — which is a different kind of security from wings, not a lesser one.
- It costs less. Over a lifetime of periods, that is not a small thing.
The belt is normally sold separately and is reusable. Wash it regularly in mild soap, dry it in the sun, and replace it when the elastic goes slack — a loose belt lets the pad slide, and a sliding pad leaks.
How This Pad Is Built
- Non-woven outer and inner layers, moving liquid down into the pad so the surface stays comparatively dry against skin.
- Airlaid paper — wood pulp and fibre — for higher absorption per unit of thickness.
- Graded pulp with SAP (Super Absorbent Polymer), which locks liquid in as a gel so it does not come back out under pressure.
- An extended PE back sheet against leaking through the back.
- XL length, which is what gives it coverage on heavy days and overnight.
A Note on the Perfume
- Many people prefer scented pads and have never had a problem with them.
- Fragrance is also a common cause of contact irritation in people who are prone to it. Monthly itching with scented pads and none with plain ones is a pattern, not a coincidence.
- Perfume does not address the cause of odour. Bacteria acting on flow over hours causes it, and changing the pad every four to six hours is what stops it.
How Often to Change a Pad
- Change every four to six hours, even on a light day and even if the pad still looks usable. That is a hygiene interval, not an absorbency one.
- On a heavy day, change more often — every three to four hours is normal for the first two days.
- Wash your hands before and after. Both times.
- Wrap the used pad in its wrapper or in paper and put it in a bin. Never flush a pad; it does not break down and it blocks the line.
- Rinse with plain water and pat dry before the new pad goes on. Soap and intimate washes are not needed and often make irritation worse.
- Never use two pads at once to make one last longer. It does not work and it traps moisture against the skin.
Toxic shock syndrome is rare with pads — it is mainly associated with tampons left in too long — but a pad worn for many hours in a hot climate is still the main cause of period rash and itching. Sudden high fever, vomiting, dizziness and a sunburn-like rash during a period need emergency medical care, whichever product you are using.
Rash, Itching and Chafing
Period rash is heat and friction, not dirt. In Bangladesh’s climate it is very common and it is worth knowing what actually helps:
- Change more often. A damp pad against skin for six hours is the single biggest cause.
- Try an unscented pad. Perfumed pads smell pleasant in the packet and are a frequent cause of contact irritation in the people who react to them.
- Cotton underwear, not synthetic, and not too tight.
- Rinse with plain water at each change and dry properly before the new pad goes on.
- Plain petroleum jelly or a barrier cream on the chafed area between changes.
- Do not use antiseptic, soap or an intimate wash on broken skin. It stings, it strips the natural protective layer, and it makes the next day worse.
If the rash blisters, weeps, spreads, or comes back every single month, see a doctor — a fungal infection and a contact allergy look similar and are treated differently.
When a Period Needs a Doctor, Not a Bigger Pad
Buying a heavier pad is the right answer to a heavy day. It is the wrong answer to some things, and these are worth knowing:
- Soaking through a pad every hour or two, for several hours in a row. That is medically heavy bleeding and it is a common cause of anaemia here.
- Bleeding for more than seven days every cycle.
- Clots larger than a 10-taka coin, repeatedly.
- Pain that stops you going to work or school, or that painkillers do not touch.
- Bleeding between periods, after sex, or after menopause.
- Constant tiredness, breathlessness or dizziness during your period — that is what iron deficiency feels like, and it is treatable.
None of these means something is seriously wrong. All of them mean it is worth a doctor’s appointment rather than another year of managing it alone.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the belt included?
Belt-system packs generally contain pads only. If you do not already own a belt you will need one; it is reusable and a one-off purchase.
How does this differ from the Fly Jasmine panty system pack?
Only in how it is held in place, and in length. This is the belt version in XL; the other is the adhesive panty version. Same jasmine scent, same core construction.
Can I wear one overnight?
Yes, and an XL or overnight length is made for exactly that. Change it immediately before you sleep and immediately when you wake, and accept that a night counts as one long wear — that is why the extra length matters.
Scented or unscented?
Unscented, unless you have used a perfumed pad for years with no trouble. Perfume in a pad is a common cause of itching and contact irritation, and it does not solve odour — changing the pad does.
How many pads will I need for one period?
Most people use somewhere between 10 and 20 pads across a period, depending on flow and on how strictly you change every four to six hours. Buying a heavier pack for the first two days and a lighter one for the rest works out cheaper than one size for everything.
