Product Overview
One pair of grey colour contact lenses from the Eyeshare / Ksseye Diamond / Norko series, supplied with a regular lens kit box. Cosmetic lenses, for eye make-up and fashion.
Specification
- Base curve: 8.5mm
- Diameter: 14.5mm
- Optical centre thickness: 0.08mm
- Material: HEMA
- Water content: 38-40%
- Life: 12 months after opening, depending on how well it is cleaned, stored and worn
- In the box: 1 pair of lenses (2 pieces) + 1 contact lens case
At 14.5mm this is a wider lens than the 14.2mm blue in this range. A larger diameter covers more of the iris and gives a more pronounced, more obvious effect. It also makes the fit matter more, not less — which is the reason to have your eyes measured first.
As the seller notes, lens colour reads differently under different light and against different natural eye colours. Grey is one of the more transparent shades, so more of your own iris will show through than a photograph suggests.
Read This Before You Wear Any Coloured Lens
A cosmetic contact lens is a medical device, not make-up. It sits directly on the cornea, which is living tissue with no blood supply of its own, and it takes its oxygen from the air. Everything below follows from that.
- Get your eyes measured by an optometrist before you wear lenses for the first time — including zero-power coloured ones. The two numbers on the pack, base curve and diameter, have to match the shape of your eye. A lens that is too tight starves the cornea of oxygen; one that is too loose slides and scratches. Neither is something you can judge by putting it in.
- Never sleep in them. Sleeping in a lens is the single largest risk factor for a corneal ulcer, and a corneal ulcer can scar the cornea permanently.
- Never share lenses with anyone, not even for one photo. This is how eye infections pass from person to person.
- Never rinse or store them in tap water, mineral water or saliva. Tap water can carry Acanthamoeba, an organism that causes an extremely painful infection which is difficult to treat and can end in sight loss. Multi-purpose contact lens solution only.
- Do not swim, shower or bathe in them for the same reason.
- Take them out for the last time each day before you take your make-up off, and put them in before you put make-up on.
- Build up slowly. Four to six hours a day at first, and never more than eight.
Take the lenses out and see an eye doctor the same day if you have pain, redness that does not settle, light sensitivity, blurred vision, watering or a feeling that something is stuck. Do not wait to see if it improves overnight. Every one of those is an early sign of the problem you do not want.
Children should not wear cosmetic lenses. People with dry eye, an eye infection, or who have had eye surgery should ask their doctor first.
Handling and Storage
- Wash and dry your hands before you touch a lens. Every single time.
- Handle it with the pads of your fingers, never with a fingernail, and keep your nails short.
- Put the lens on your index finger and check the shape. A bowl with straight edges is the right way round; a rim that flares out like a saucer is inside out. An inside-out lens feels uncomfortable and moves.
- Rub the lens gently in fresh solution in your palm before storing — rubbing removes deposits that rinsing alone leaves behind.
- Empty the case and refill it with fresh solution every time. Topping up old solution is the most common mistake there is.
- Rinse the case with solution, air dry it face down, and replace the case every three months.
- Keep the lenses in the sealed bottles until first use and store the case somewhere cool and dry — not on a bathroom windowsill.
Count the life of the lens from the day you open it, not from the day you bought it. Write the date on the case.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do these correct vision?
No. These are zero-power cosmetic lenses. They change eye colour and nothing else.
What does 38-40% water content mean for me?
Water content affects how the lens feels and how much oxygen passes through it. Lower water content lenses can feel more stable through a long day and can suit drier eyes; higher water content feels wetter initially. Neither is better in the abstract — comfort depends on your eyes, which is why a fitting is worth the visit.
How long can I wear them in one day?
Build up slowly: four to six hours a day at first, and never more than eight. Never overnight.
They came in a sealed bottle. Do I need to clean them first?
Yes. Rinse a new lens in fresh multi-purpose solution before the first wear, and use fresh solution in the case. Never rinse with water.
Can two people share one pair?
No. Never, not even once, not even after cleaning. Sharing lenses passes eye infections directly from one person to another.
