HK Vitals Multivitamin, 60 tablets — vitamins, minerals and amino acids with ginseng extract and taurine, for daily nutrition, stamina and alertness.
Two months’ supply at one a day.
Product Overview
HK Vitals Multivitamin is a daily multivitamin in a 60 tablet bottle, combining vitamins, minerals and amino acids with two additions that a plain multivitamin does not carry: ginseng extract and taurine.
What the Two Extras Do
- Ginseng (usually Panax ginseng) is an adaptogen used for centuries for fatigue and mental alertness. The evidence is mixed but not empty — some trials show small improvements in fatigue and cognitive performance. See the cautions below; ginseng interacts with several medicines.
- Taurine is an amino acid found in heart, muscle and brain tissue, involved in energy metabolism and in handling calcium inside cells. It is the ingredient that gives energy drinks their name. Your body makes it, so deficiency is rare in people eating a mixed diet.
What a Multivitamin Honestly Does
A daily multivitamin is insurance against gaps in the diet, not a health treatment. Where the diet is varied and there is no deficiency, large trials find little effect on long-term health outcomes.
Where it genuinely earns its place is when the diet is not varied — shift work, frequent travel, eating out most days, restricted diets, or a period of poor appetite. Then it quietly covers what the food is missing.
Food First
A supplement is a supplement — the name is accurate. It works best filling a genuine gap on top of an ordinary varied diet, not standing in for one.
Whole food gives you the nutrient along with the fibre and the dozens of other compounds that come with it, in amounts your body is built to handle. No capsule reproduces that. Take a supplement because your diet, your blood test or your doctor points to a specific gap — not because the packaging is persuasive.
Cautions — Mostly the Ginseng
- Ginseng can affect blood sugar. If you are diabetic, monitor and tell your doctor.
- It has an antiplatelet effect — ask your doctor if you take warfarin or another blood thinner, and stop before surgery.
- It may interact with blood pressure medicines and with some antidepressants.
- Some people find it stimulating. Take it in the morning if it affects your sleep.
- Not recommended in pregnancy or breastfeeding.
Do Not Exceed the Stated Dose
Follow the dose printed on the pack. More is not better with supplements — for several of them, more is worse.
- Fat-soluble vitamins (A, D, E and K) build up in the body rather than being flushed out. A high daily dose taken for months can accumulate to a harmful level.
- Taking two products that both contain the same vitamin is an easy way to double a dose without noticing. Check every label you are taking.
- Stop and see a doctor if you get nausea, stomach pain, unusual bruising, a rash, or anything else new after starting.
This Is a Supplement, Not a Medicine
A dietary supplement is a food product. It is not a medicine, it has not been through the testing a medicine goes through, and it does not diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease.
Supplement labels use health language — “supports”, “helps maintain”, “promotes” — precisely because they are not permitted to claim treatment. Read them that way. If a listing anywhere promises that a capsule will fix a medical condition, that promise is not one the product can keep.
What a supplement can honestly do is fill a gap in your diet. That is worth something, and it is a smaller thing than most packaging implies.
Talk to a Doctor First
Speak to a doctor or pharmacist before you start, particularly if you:
- take any prescribed medicine — supplements interfere with medicines more often than people expect
- are being treated for a heart, liver, kidney, thyroid or blood condition
- have diabetes
- are pregnant, trying to conceive, or breastfeeding
- have surgery or a dental procedure coming up
Never stop or reduce a prescribed medicine in order to take a supplement instead. That is the single most dangerous thing anyone does with a product like this, and it is what the marketing language quietly invites.
Storage
- Keep the container tightly closed, somewhere cool and dry, out of direct sunlight.
- Do not store it in a bathroom. Heat and humidity break supplements down faster than anything else, and a Dhaka bathroom is the worst place in the house for them.
- Leave the desiccant sachet in the bottle. It is there to keep moisture out, not by mistake.
- Softgels and fish oils are best kept in a fridge in hot weather — they go rancid otherwise.
- Keep it out of reach of children.
- Do not use it after the expiry date, and throw it away if the capsules smell strongly off, have stuck together or changed colour.
Frequently Asked Questions
Will it give me energy?
Not the way a coffee does. The vitamins are the machinery that releases energy from food rather than a source of energy themselves. Ginseng may help mildly with fatigue in some people over weeks.
Should I take it with food?
Yes. Multivitamins on an empty stomach commonly cause nausea, and the fat-soluble vitamins absorb better with a meal.
Can I take it with another supplement?
Check both labels for overlapping ingredients first — doubling zinc, iron or vitamin A by accident is the most common way people overdo a supplement.
Can I take it with my other supplements?
Check the labels for anything that appears in both — doubling a dose by accident is easy. If you are on prescribed medicine as well, ask a pharmacist. They do this check quickly and for free.
Is this the genuine imported product?
Yes. It is sourced as an import, so the bottle is printed for its origin market rather than for Bangladesh. The seal should be intact when it reaches you — tell us straight away if it is not.
