Description

Product Overview

Carbamide Forte 5X Strength Omega-3 Fish Oil (labelled OmeFish-Ultra) is a lemon-flavoured fish oil softgel in a 60 softgel bottle. The serving is two softgels a day with a meal, so the bottle holds 30 servings — one month.

Each two-softgel serving gives 2,730mg of fish oil containing 1,590mg of omega-3 fatty acids — 900mg EPA, 600mg DHA and 90mg of other omega-3s — plus vitamin D3, vitamin E, vitamin A and a little aloe vera. It is made in India.

Please note: Carbamide Forte also makes a vegetarian algae omega-3, which we sell separately. This is a different product: fish oil in gelatin softgels, and not vegetarian.

What “5X Strength” Means

The label does not say five times stronger than what. The arithmetic that fits: a standard 1,000mg fish oil softgel contains about 300mg of omega-3, and one serving here contains 1,590mg — roughly five times as much. But a serving here is two softgels, so each softgel carries about 795mg — a little over two and a half times a standard capsule.

That is still a genuinely concentrated fish oil. The number worth comparing between products is the one this label states clearly: 1,500mg of EPA + DHA per serving.

Key Features

  • 1,590mg total omega-3 per two-softgel serving (900mg EPA, 600mg DHA, 90mg other omega-3s)
  • 2,730mg of fish oil per serving
  • Per serving: vitamin D3 15mcg (600 IU), vitamin E 10mg, vitamin A 840mcg, aloe vera sap powder 10mg
  • Citrus lemon flavour to reduce fishy aftertaste
  • Molecularly distilled, according to the maker
  • 60 softgels, 30 servings, for adults

Ingredients / Specifications

Ingredients (from the label): fish oil [omega-3 fatty acids (33% & 22%)], gelatin (capsule shell), humectants (INS 420(i) & INS 422 — sorbitol and glycerol), D-alpha tocopheryl acetate (vitamin E), aloe vera sap powder, retinyl acetate (vitamin A), antioxidants (INS 320 & INS 321 — BHA and BHT), preservative (INS 211 — sodium benzoate), cholecalciferol (vitamin D3), natural and nature-identical flavouring (citrus lemon).

Allergen: contains fish. The capsule shell is gelatin, an animal product. Manufactured by Smayan Healthcare Pvt. Ltd., Baddi, India, and marketed by Novus Life Sciences Pvt. Ltd., Mumbai.

Key Benefits

  • Triglycerides — the clearest, best-established effect of omega-3, and it grows with dose. Where doctors use omega-3 for high triglycerides, the dose is 2-4g of EPA + DHA a day, so if that is your reason, ask your doctor about the right amount.
  • Brain and eyes — DHA is a structural part of both. That does not mean extra DHA sharpens memory in healthy adults; trials have not shown that.
  • Joints — omega-3 has modest anti-inflammatory effects, and some people with stiff joints notice a small benefit.
  • Heart — honestly mixed. Eating oily fish is consistently linked with better heart health; supplements have performed inconsistently in large trials.
  • Vitamin D3 — 600 IU is a sensible maintenance amount, and useful in Bangladesh, where deficiency is common despite the sunshine.

What the Listing Overstates

  • “100% of your daily needs for vitamins D3, A and E” — the label itself gives 84% of the RDA for vitamin A, and 100% for D3 and E.
  • “Ideal 3:2 EPA:DHA ratio … maximise absorption” — there is no established ideal ratio, and the ratio does not decide how well the oil is absorbed. Taking it with a meal does.
  • “Pharmaceutical grade”, “mercury and toxin free” — molecular distillation does remove most mercury and other contaminants, and that is a real point in its favour. “Pharmaceutical grade” is not a defined standard for supplements, and the label itself says “Not for medicinal use”.
  • “For men and women of all ages” — the label says for adults.
  • Heart, brain, joints, eyes and immunity — see the honest summary above.

How to Use

  1. Take two softgels a day with a meal, as the label directs, or as your doctor advises.
  2. Do not exceed that — fish oil plus three fat-soluble vitamins is not a product to double up on.
  3. A meal with some fat helps absorption and reduces fishy burps; keeping the bottle in the fridge helps too.

Who Is It Suitable For?

  • Adults who rarely eat oily fish such as hilsa, sardines or mackerel.
  • People who gave up on fish oil because of the aftertaste.

Not for anyone with a fish allergy, and not vegetarian. If you need a vegetarian omega-3, ask us about the algae version.

Important — Bleeding Risk

Omega-3 oils thin the blood slightly. That is usually harmless on its own, but it matters if you are also taking something that does the same thing.

  • Do not take it alongside warfarin, aspirin, clopidogrel or any other blood thinner without asking your doctor. The effects add up.
  • Tell your surgeon or dentist that you take it, and expect to be asked to stop about two weeks before any operation.
  • Stop and get medical advice if you notice unusual bruising, nosebleeds, or bleeding that takes longer than normal to stop.

Fish Allergy

This is made from fish. If you are allergic to fish, do not take it. Seek urgent help if you develop swelling, a spreading rash or difficulty breathing after taking it.

Pregnancy and Vitamin A

This contains preformed vitamin A (retinyl acetate), 840mcg per serving. That amount is within normal daily limits on its own, but too much preformed vitamin A in pregnancy can cause birth defects, and the limit is easy to pass when a prenatal vitamin, a multivitamin or cod liver oil is taken as well.

If you are pregnant, trying to conceive or breastfeeding, do not take it without your doctor’s advice, and tell them about every other supplement you take. Omega-3 in pregnancy can be worthwhile, but the doctor should choose the product and the dose.

Do Not Exceed the Stated Dose

Follow the dose printed on the pack. More is not better with supplements — for several of them, more is worse.

  • Fat-soluble vitamins (A, D, E and K) build up in the body rather than being flushed out. A high daily dose taken for months can accumulate to a harmful level.
  • Taking two products that both contain the same vitamin is an easy way to double a dose without noticing. Check every label you are taking.
  • Stop and see a doctor if you get nausea, stomach pain, unusual bruising, a rash, or anything else new after starting.

About the Imported Pack

This is an imported product. The label, the dose instructions and the ingredient panel are the ones printed for the market it was made for, and the wording may differ from a locally packaged version.

Follow the dose printed on the pack itself — it is the authority on its own contents — and check the expiry date when it arrives. If anything on the label is unclear, message us before you take it and we will read it to you.

This Is a Supplement, Not a Medicine

A dietary supplement is a food product. It is not a medicine, it has not been through the testing a medicine goes through, and it does not diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease.

Supplement labels use health language — “supports”, “helps maintain”, “promotes” — precisely because they are not permitted to claim treatment. Read them that way. If a listing anywhere promises that a capsule will fix a medical condition, that promise is not one the product can keep.

What a supplement can honestly do is fill a gap in your diet. That is worth something, and it is a smaller thing than most packaging implies.

Talk to a Doctor First

Speak to a doctor or pharmacist before you start, particularly if you:

  • take any prescribed medicine — supplements interfere with medicines more often than people expect
  • are being treated for a heart, liver, kidney, thyroid or blood condition
  • have diabetes
  • are pregnant, trying to conceive, or breastfeeding
  • have surgery or a dental procedure coming up

Never stop or reduce a prescribed medicine in order to take a supplement instead. That is the single most dangerous thing anyone does with a product like this, and it is what the marketing language quietly invites.

Storage

  • Keep the container tightly closed, somewhere cool and dry, out of direct sunlight.
  • Do not store it in a bathroom. Heat and humidity break supplements down faster than anything else, and a Dhaka bathroom is the worst place in the house for them.
  • Leave the desiccant sachet in the bottle. It is there to keep moisture out, not by mistake.
  • Softgels and fish oils are best kept in a fridge in hot weather — they go rancid otherwise.
  • Keep it out of reach of children.
  • Do not use it after the expiry date, and throw it away if the capsules smell strongly off, have stuck together or changed colour.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is this different from Carbamide Forte’s vegetarian omega-3?

That one is made from marine algae, in vegetarian capsules. This one is fish oil in gelatin softgels, with added vitamins A, D3 and E. Choose by diet: vegetarians need the algae version.

How much EPA and DHA do I get?

900mg EPA and 600mg DHA per two-softgel serving — 1,500mg combined, plus 90mg of other omega-3s.

Can I take it with a separate vitamin D or a multivitamin?

Check the totals first. This already gives 600 IU of vitamin D3 and 840mcg of vitamin A, both fat-soluble and both stored in the body. Doubling up is how people overshoot.

Should I take it with food?

Follow the pack. As a general rule, fat-soluble vitamins (A, D, E, K) and oils absorb better with a meal that contains some fat, and they are gentler on the stomach that way.

How do I check the pack is in date?

The expiry date is printed on the bottle or the base of the box. Check it as soon as your order arrives. If it is unreadable or close to expiry, message us and we will replace it.
