Fitness Labs Beet Root, 120 capsules — concentrated beetroot (Beta vulgaris) for dietary nitrate, the precursor your body converts to nitric oxide.
Low-temperature dried to protect the nitrate. Tell your doctor if you take blood pressure medicine.
Product Overview
Fitness Labs Beet Root capsules concentrate beetroot (Beta vulgaris) into a 120 capsule bottle. The manufacturer states the roots are slowly dehydrated at low temperature rather than heat-dried, which is a genuine point — nitrate content is what matters here and it degrades with heat.
The One Thing Beetroot Genuinely Does
Beetroot is unusual among “superfood” supplements because it has a specific, measured, well-replicated effect, and it is worth explaining properly.
Beetroot is rich in dietary nitrate. Bacteria on your tongue convert nitrate to nitrite; your body then converts that to nitric oxide, a signalling molecule that relaxes and widens blood vessels. From that follow the two documented effects:
- Exercise performance. Multiple trials show beetroot improves endurance and reduces the oxygen cost of exercise. The effect is modest but consistent, which is why it is standard in serious sports nutrition.
- Blood pressure. Small, short-lived reductions of a few mmHg in some people, lasting hours rather than being a treatment.
Timing matters if performance is your reason: the effect peaks two to three hours after taking it.
One practical oddity: strong antiseptic mouthwash can blunt the effect, because it kills the tongue bacteria that start the conversion.
If You Take Blood Pressure Medicine
Tell your doctor before starting. Beetroot lowers blood pressure a little, and combined with medication that does the same thing the effects can add up — leaving you dizzy or lightheaded when you stand.
Also worth knowing: people prone to kidney stones should be cautious. Beetroot is high in oxalate.
This Is a Supplement, Not a Medicine
A dietary supplement is a food product. It is not a medicine, it has not been through the testing a medicine goes through, and it does not diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease.
Supplement labels use health language — “supports”, “helps maintain”, “promotes” — precisely because they are not permitted to claim treatment. Read them that way. If a listing anywhere promises that a capsule will fix a medical condition, that promise is not one the product can keep.
What a supplement can honestly do is fill a gap in your diet. That is worth something, and it is a smaller thing than most packaging implies.
Talk to a Doctor First
Speak to a doctor or pharmacist before you start, particularly if you:
- take any prescribed medicine — supplements interfere with medicines more often than people expect
- are being treated for a heart, liver, kidney, thyroid or blood condition
- have diabetes
- are pregnant, trying to conceive, or breastfeeding
- have surgery or a dental procedure coming up
Never stop or reduce a prescribed medicine in order to take a supplement instead. That is the single most dangerous thing anyone does with a product like this, and it is what the marketing language quietly invites.
Storage
- Keep the container tightly closed, somewhere cool and dry, out of direct sunlight.
- Do not store it in a bathroom. Heat and humidity break supplements down faster than anything else, and a Dhaka bathroom is the worst place in the house for them.
- Leave the desiccant sachet in the bottle. It is there to keep moisture out, not by mistake.
- Softgels and fish oils are best kept in a fridge in hot weather — they go rancid otherwise.
- Keep it out of reach of children.
- Do not use it after the expiry date, and throw it away if the capsules smell strongly off, have stuck together or changed colour.
Frequently Asked Questions
My urine turned pink. Should I worry?
No. It is called beeturia, it affects roughly one person in seven, and it is completely harmless. Stools can go reddish too.
Capsules or beetroot juice?
Juice generally carries more nitrate per serving and is what most studies used. Capsules are far more convenient and do not taste of beetroot. Both work; check the nitrate content if the label gives it.
When should I take it before exercise?
Two to three hours beforehand, based on how the nitrate is converted.
Should I take it with food?
Follow the pack. As a general rule, fat-soluble vitamins (A, D, E, K) and oils absorb better with a meal that contains some fat, and they are gentler on the stomach that way.
How do I check the pack is in date?
The expiry date is printed on the bottle or the base of the box. Check it as soon as your order arrives. If it is unreadable or close to expiry, message us and we will replace it.
