Totaria Antarctic Krill Oil Omega-3, 120 Capsules

Totaria Antarctic Krill Oil, 120 capsules — omega-3 EPA and DHA in phospholipid form, with astaxanthin. One softgel a day, no fishy aftertaste.
Krill is shellfish. Do not take it if you are allergic to prawns or crab.
Product Overview
Totaria Krill Oil is an omega-3 supplement made from Antarctic krill — small crustaceans from the Southern Ocean — in a 120 capsule bottle, taken as one softgel a day.
Two things distinguish krill oil from ordinary fish oil, and both are genuine rather than marketing:
- The omega-3 is bound in phospholipid form rather than as triglycerides. Phospholipids mix with water, which is why krill oil is generally easier on the stomach and does not produce the fishy repeat that puts people off fish oil.
- It naturally contains astaxanthin, the red antioxidant carotenoid that gives it its colour and helps keep the oil from going rancid.
The trade-off is dose: a krill capsule usually carries less EPA and DHA than a fish oil capsule of the same size. Compare the milligrams of EPA and DHA on the label, not the total oil.
Shellfish Allergy Warning
Krill is a crustacean. If you are allergic to prawns, shrimp, crab, lobster or any other shellfish, do not take this product. A crustacean allergy can cause a severe and rapid reaction.
Get medical help urgently if you develop swelling of the face or throat, a spreading rash, or any difficulty breathing after taking it.
Important — Bleeding Risk
Omega-3 oils thin the blood slightly. That is usually harmless on its own, but it matters if you are also taking something that does the same thing.
- Do not take it alongside warfarin, aspirin, clopidogrel or any other blood thinner without asking your doctor. The effects add up.
- Tell your surgeon or dentist that you take it, and expect to be asked to stop about two weeks before any operation.
- Stop and get medical advice if you notice unusual bruising, nosebleeds, or bleeding that takes longer than normal to stop.
What Omega-3 Is Actually Good For
Being specific matters here, because omega-3 is sold for almost everything.
- Triglycerides — the clearest effect. High doses reliably lower them.
- Heart disease — the honest position is that the evidence is mixed. Eating oily fish is consistently associated with better heart outcomes; supplements have performed less impressively in large trials. The manufacturer’s own wording is careful — that consumption of EPA and DHA “may reduce the risk” — and that “may” is doing real work.
- Inflammation and joint stiffness — modest but reasonably supported.
- Brain and eyes — DHA is a structural component of both, which is why it is in infant formula. Whether extra DHA improves an adult’s memory is not established.
This Is a Supplement, Not a Medicine
A dietary supplement is a food product. It is not a medicine, it has not been through the testing a medicine goes through, and it does not diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease.
Supplement labels use health language — “supports”, “helps maintain”, “promotes” — precisely because they are not permitted to claim treatment. Read them that way. If a listing anywhere promises that a capsule will fix a medical condition, that promise is not one the product can keep.
What a supplement can honestly do is fill a gap in your diet. That is worth something, and it is a smaller thing than most packaging implies.
Talk to a Doctor First
Speak to a doctor or pharmacist before you start, particularly if you:
- take any prescribed medicine — supplements interfere with medicines more often than people expect
- are being treated for a heart, liver, kidney, thyroid or blood condition
- have diabetes
- are pregnant, trying to conceive, or breastfeeding
- have surgery or a dental procedure coming up
Never stop or reduce a prescribed medicine in order to take a supplement instead. That is the single most dangerous thing anyone does with a product like this, and it is what the marketing language quietly invites.
Storage
- Keep the container tightly closed, somewhere cool and dry, out of direct sunlight.
- Do not store it in a bathroom. Heat and humidity break supplements down faster than anything else, and a Dhaka bathroom is the worst place in the house for them.
- Leave the desiccant sachet in the bottle. It is there to keep moisture out, not by mistake.
- Softgels and fish oils are best kept in a fridge in hot weather — they go rancid otherwise.
- Keep it out of reach of children.
- Do not use it after the expiry date, and throw it away if the capsules smell strongly off, have stuck together or changed colour.
Frequently Asked Questions
Krill oil or fish oil?
Krill absorbs well, causes fewer repeats and comes with astaxanthin. Fish oil gives far more EPA and DHA per taka. If the fishy aftertaste is what stopped you before, krill is worth the premium; if you just want the omega-3, fish oil is better value.
Can I take it if I am allergic to fish but not shellfish?
Krill is a crustacean, not a fish — but cross-contamination in processing is possible. Ask your doctor before taking it.
Do I need to refrigerate it?
Not required, but in Bangladeshi heat the fridge is the better place. Oils go rancid faster when warm.
Should I take it with food?
Follow the pack. As a general rule, fat-soluble vitamins (A, D, E, K) and oils absorb better with a meal that contains some fat, and they are gentler on the stomach that way.
How do I check the pack is in date?
The expiry date is printed on the bottle or the base of the box. Check it as soon as your order arrives. If it is unreadable or close to expiry, message us and we will replace it.
