Beardo Godfather Beard Wash is a 100ml cleanser built specifically for facial hair. It removes dirt, oil and product build-up while leaving the beard and the skin underneath soft, using avocado oil, argan oil, castor oil and glycerin.

Why a Beard Needs Its Own Wash

This is the part most men get wrong, and it costs them the beard they wanted:

• Soap and face wash strip beard hair. They are built to remove oil from skin, and beard hair depends on that oil to stay soft. Wash a beard with soap and it goes coarse, wiry and frizzy within days.
• The skin underneath is facial skin, not scalp — thinner, more reactive, and prone to flaking when it is stripped. Most “beard dandruff” is dry facial skin.
• Beard hair is coarser and drier than head hair to begin with, so it needs more conditioning, not less.

A dedicated beard wash cleans without taking everything with it. The oils in this one are there to replace what washing removes.

Looking After a Beard

A beard is not hair on a head — the skin underneath is facial skin, and most beard problems are skin problems.

• Wash it with a beard wash or a gentle shampoo, not with soap or face wash. Soap strips the oils and leaves the hair coarse and the skin underneath flaking.
• Wash two or three times a week rather than daily unless it gets dirty.
• Beard oil goes on the skin, not just the hair. Work a few drops into the skin underneath with your fingertips — that is where the itch and the flakes come from.
• Comb or brush it through after oiling. It spreads the oil and trains the hair to lie flat.
• Trim the neckline and the cheek line regularly. A beard that is otherwise fine looks unkempt the moment those two lines are not.
• Beard itch in the first two or three weeks of growing is normal — it is cut hair ends against skin, and it passes.

How to Use It

1. Wet the beard thoroughly with warm water.
2. Work a small amount through the hair and into the skin underneath — the skin is where the itch and flakes come from.
3. Massage for 30 seconds or so.
4. Rinse completely. Leftover product is a common cause of itching.
5. Pat dry — do not rub, which roughs up the hair.
6. Follow with beard oil while the beard is still slightly damp.
7. Two or three times a week is right for most beards. Daily washing dries it out.

Patch Test First

Before the first full use, put a small amount on the inside of your forearm or behind the ear and leave it for 24 hours. If there is redness, itching, burning or a rash, do not use it on your face.

This matters more than it sounds for grooming products. Freshly shaved skin has had its top layer scraped off, and a fragranced product that is fine on an arm can sting badly on a face that was shaved five minutes ago.

Keep it out of your eyes. If it gets in, rinse with plenty of cool water.
