Breakfast covers cereals, oats, granola, spreads, honey and the imported breakfast items that make a weekday morning quicker.

Reading a Breakfast Label

Breakfast products carry more health claims than almost any other aisle, and the claims are frequently the least useful thing on the box.

• Check sugar per 100g. Under 5g is low; over 22.5g is high. A great many cereals marketed as healthy sit above 20g, and some granolas are above 25g.

• Check fibre per 100g. Over 6g is genuinely high-fibre, and this is the number that actually predicts whether a breakfast keeps you full.

• “Whole grain” on the front means little on its own. Look for a whole grain as the first ingredient.

• Granola is usually the sugariest option on the shelf despite being the most wholesome-looking, because the clusters are held together with syrup and oil.

• Protein matters more than the marketing suggests. A breakfast with protein — eggs, yoghurt, milk, nuts — keeps you full far longer than one without.

Practical Notes

• Plain oats are the best value in the aisle by a wide margin, and you control what goes in them.

• Compare per 100g, not per pack. Serving sizes on cereal boxes are frequently smaller than anyone actually eats.

• Check the date format on imported boxes — American packs print MM/DD/YYYY and British ones DD/MM/YYYY.

• Read the allergen line: nuts, milk, wheat and soy are common across this aisle.

Storing It Here

Humidity is the enemy of every dry breakfast product. Decant into an airtight container the day you open the box — cereal and granola go soft within a day of being left open in this climate, and once soft they do not recover. Nuts and seeds go rancid faster than anything else; keep them in the fridge once opened, and throw them out if they smell like old paint. Keep honey at room temperature rather than in the fridge, where it crystallises.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which cereal is genuinely the healthiest?

Plain oats, and it is not close. Low sugar, high fibre, cheap, and you decide what goes on top. Everything else is a convenience trade-off.

Is granola a healthy choice?

It is usually the highest in sugar and fat on the shelf, because that is what makes clusters. Eaten as a topping in a small quantity it is fine; eaten as a bowlful it is closer to dessert.

How do I stop cereal going soft?

Airtight container, immediately, and do not leave the bag rolled over inside the box. Humidity does the damage within a day here.

How much shelf life will it have?

We stock to arrive well within date and do not knowingly ship anything close to expiry. If you need a specific minimum for a particular order, ask before placing it and we will check the batch.

How long does delivery take?

Inside Dhaka, usually one to three working days. Outside Dhaka, generally two to five, depending on the courier and your location. We contact you to confirm the order before it is dispatched.
