Breakfast Cereals — flakes, oats, muesli, granola and children’s cereals, imported and local.

The Two Numbers That Matter

Ignore the front of the box entirely and turn it over. Two figures per 100g tell you almost everything:

Sugar. Under 5g per 100g is low. Over 22.5g is high. Many cereals sold as healthy are between 20g and 30g, and children’s cereals are frequently above 30g — roughly a third sugar by weight.

Fibre. Over 6g per 100g is genuinely high. This is the number that decides whether you are hungry again at eleven o’clock.

Compare per 100g, never per serving. Manufacturers set serving sizes at 30g or 40g, which is considerably less than most people pour, and it makes the sugar figure look small.

What the Claims Actually Mean

“Whole grain” — check it is the first ingredient, not the fourth after three kinds of sugar.

“Fortified with vitamins” — true and worth something, though it does not offset a high sugar content.

“Natural” and “wholesome” — not regulated terms and not informative.

“No added sugar” — check for concentrated fruit juice, honey and malt extract, all of which are sugar by another name.

Making a Cereal Breakfast Work Better

Add protein. Milk, yoghurt, nuts or seeds turn a cereal that leaves you hungry at eleven into one that does not.

Add whole fruit rather than buying the fruit-flavoured version, which is usually flavouring and sugar.

Weigh a portion once to see what 40g actually looks like. Most people are surprised.

Mix a sugary cereal with plain oats or flakes — an easy way to halve the sugar without a fight, particularly with children.

Shopping This Category

Every listing states what we actually know — size, quantity, country of origin, and the specification the manufacturer publishes. Where a detail is not available, the page says so instead of filling the space.

Compare pack size, not just price. A larger pack is usually cheaper per unit; a small one is the sensible way to try something new.

Delivery across Bangladesh, with cash on delivery available in most areas.

Ask us if a listing does not answer your question. We would rather check than guess, and we correct a listing when we find it wrong.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are children’s cereals a reasonable breakfast?

Most are very high in sugar — frequently over 30g per 100g. Mixing them half and half with plain flakes or oats works better than banning them.

Is muesli better than granola?

Usually yes. Muesli is raw oats, fruit and nuts; granola is the same ingredients baked with syrup and oil, which is what makes the clusters and the sugar figure.

How long does an opened box last?

In this climate, days if left in the box and weeks in an airtight container. Once cereal has gone soft it does not crisp up again.

How much shelf life will it have?

We stock to arrive well within date and do not knowingly ship anything close to expiry. If you need a specific minimum for a particular order, ask before placing it and we will check the batch.

How long does delivery take?

Inside Dhaka, usually one to three working days. Outside Dhaka, generally two to five, depending on the courier and your location. We contact you to confirm the order before it is dispatched.
