Buying a Tool Instead of a Product

Tools are bought once and used for years, so a few things are worth checking that nobody checks:

• Heat setting range, not maximum heat. A straightener that only runs at 230°C is a straightener that will damage fine hair. Adjustable heat is worth more than a high ceiling.

• Plate and barrel material. Ceramic and tourmaline heat evenly; bare metal plates have hot spots that scorch a section of hair while another section is not straightened at all.

• Voltage. Bangladesh runs 220-240V. Anything imported from the USA or Japan may be 110-120V and needs a converter, not just a plug adapter.

• Cord length and swivel. A short or fixed cord makes a dryer genuinely annoying to use, and it is the most common regret.

Using Heat Without Wrecking Your Hair

• Never use a straightener or curler on damp hair. The water inside the shaft boils and the hair blisters from the inside. That is what causes the crunchy, straw-like damage people blame on the tool.

• Use a heat protectant, every time.

• Start at the lowest temperature that works. Fine or coloured hair should stay well below 180°C; only very coarse hair needs the top of the range.

• One pass, not five. Going over the same section repeatedly is what does the damage, not the tool itself.

Dry hair to about 80% with a dryer on medium before styling.

Care and Hygiene

• Clean the dryer’s rear filter regularly. A blocked filter is the reason most hair dryers die — the motor overheats.

• Replace facial brush heads every three months. Bent, splayed bristles scratch instead of cleaning, and a damp brush head in a closed cabinet grows bacteria.

• Wash hairbrushes monthly and never share a facial brush head.

Let anything heated cool completely before it is put away or wrapped in its cord.

How often should I use a facial cleansing brush?

Two or three times a week for most skin, and once a week if you are sensitive — not daily. Over-use produces exactly the redness, tightness and flaking it was bought to fix. Never use one on active acne or broken skin.

Will these appliances work on Bangladeshi mains?

Check the voltage printed on the appliance. Most of what we stock is 220-240V and works directly. Anything rated 110-120V needs a step-down converter, and plugging it in without one will destroy it.

How long should a hair dryer or straightener last?

Several years with basic care — clean the filter, do not yank the cord, let it cool before storing. Most early failures are a blocked filter or a cord damaged where it enters the handle.

How do I know the product is genuine?

Check the seal, the batch number and the expiry printed on the pack itself rather than on a sticker over it. Everything we sell is sourced to arrive sealed and within date, and if what you receive does not match the listing we will put it right.

What if the product is wrong or damaged?

Contact us as soon as the parcel arrives, before the item is used, and keep the packaging. Anything sent in error, damaged in transit or not matching its description is our problem to solve.
