What This Product Is

A spray-on depilatory cream. It removes hair using thioglycolic acid, which breaks down the keratin structure of the hair so it wipes away — no pulling, no blade. Aloe vera and glycerin are included to soothe and moisturise, and the spray nozzle is designed to reach areas a tube is awkward for.

Used correctly it is genuinely painless, which is the whole appeal next to waxing.

Read This Before the First Use

Thioglycolic acid dissolves protein. Hair is protein and so is your skin, which is why the timing on the pack is a limit and not a suggestion.

• Do a patch test 24 hours before, on a small area, for exactly the time the pack states. Chemical burns from depilatories are common and they are entirely preventable.
• Never leave it on longer than the stated time, even if hair remains. Longer does not remove more; it burns.
• Never use it on broken, sunburnt, irritated or recently shaved skin.
• Never use it on the face, near the eyes, on the nose, or inside the ears unless the product explicitly says so.
• The seller mentions “unreachable areas”. Do not use it on genital skin unless the pack is specifically formulated and labelled for intimate use — that skin is far thinner and burns readily.
• Rinse thoroughly with cool water and wipe rather than scrub.
• If it stings, burns or itches at any point, wash it off immediately.
• The smell is sulphurous. That is normal for this chemistry and it does not mean anything is wrong.

Stop and see a doctor if you develop blistering, a spreading rash, or a burn that does not settle within a day.

How to Use It

1. Patch test 24 hours in advance.
2. Make sure the skin is clean, dry and unbroken.
3. Shake the can. Spray an even layer over the area — do not rub it in.
4. Set a timer for the time on the pack. Do not guess.
5. Test a small patch with the spatula or a cloth; if the hair wipes away, remove all of it.
6. Rinse thoroughly with cool water. No soap immediately afterwards.
7. Pat dry and leave the skin alone — no perfume, deodorant or sun exposure for 24 hours.

Depilatory, Waxing or Shaving?

• Depilatory — painless, dissolves hair slightly below the surface so regrowth is softer than shaving. Lasts a few days longer than a razor. Chemical risk is the trade-off.
• Shaving — fastest and cheapest, blunt-cut regrowth feels stubbly, risk of cuts and razor bumps.
• Waxing — removes from the root so it lasts weeks. It hurts, and it can cause ingrown hairs.
