Hershey’s Exotic Dark — dark chocolate with Californian almonds, guava and Mexican chili, in a pack of two 30g bars, imported from India.
Contains almonds. An unusual bar, and deliberately so.
Product Overview
Hershey’s Exotic Dark is the range where Hershey’s puts flavour combinations that would never make it into a standard bar, and this is one of the odder ones: dark chocolate, Californian almonds, guava and Mexican chili. Two 30g bars per pack, made in India.
It works better than it sounds. Chili and dark chocolate is an old pairing — the heat arrives after the chocolate rather than with it — and the guava keeps it fruity so the chili does not dominate. The almonds give it something to bite.
Nut Allergy Warning
This product is nuts, or contains nuts. A nut allergy can cause a severe and rapid reaction. If there is any doubt at all, do not buy it, and do not serve it to a guest without telling them what is in it.
Whole nuts are a choking hazard for children under five and should be ground or finely chopped for young children rather than given whole.
What to Expect From the Chili
The heat is a slow warmth at the back of the throat a few seconds after the chocolate melts, not a burn. By Bangladeshi standards it is mild — this is a flavour note, not a spicy food. If you were hoping for genuine heat, adjust your expectation downward.
Allergy Information
Imported snacks are usually made on lines that also handle peanuts, tree nuts, milk, wheat, soya and egg, so a pack can carry traces of an ingredient that is not in the recipe.
If you or your child has a food allergy, read the allergen statement on the pack before opening it. We list what we know from the product, but the printed pack is the only thing that can be relied on, and recipes change without notice.
A Straight Answer on Halal Status
Imported confectionery, biscuits and crisps can contain gelatine, mono- and diglycerides, enzymes or flavourings whose origin the pack does not always state. Some brands carry a halal mark for the market they were made for; many do not, because the market they were printed for did not require one.
We are a shop, not a certifying body, and we will not label something halal that we cannot prove. Check the pack for a certification mark and read the ingredient list. If this matters for your purchase, message us before you order and we will tell you exactly what is printed on the pack we hold.
Chocolate and the Weather
Chocolate softens above roughly 25°C, and it spends part of its journey here in temperatures well above that. When softened chocolate sets again it can develop a pale grey or white film on the surface. That is bloom — cocoa butter or sugar that has separated and recrystallised.
Bloomed chocolate is safe to eat. It is not mould and it is not spoilage. It looks dull and the texture can be slightly grainy, and the flavour is very close to unaffected. Chilling the bar for twenty minutes before opening firms it up.
We would rather tell you this before you order than after. If a bar arrives melted out of shape or with a broken seal, send us a photograph and we will make it right.
What This Is, Honestly
This is a snack. It is here because it tastes good, not because it is good for you, and the copy on this page is not going to pretend otherwise.
Crisps, chocolate and sweet biscuits are high in some combination of salt, sugar and fat, and they are best treated as an occasional treat alongside real meals rather than as a substitute for one. The nutrition panel on the pack gives you the actual numbers per 100g and per serving — worth a look if you are watching salt or sugar.
About Imported Packs
This is a genuine imported product, sourced from the market printed on the pack. That means the label, the ingredient list and the nutrition panel are the ones the manufacturer printed for that country, and the wording may differ from a locally packaged version of the same brand.
Check the expiry date on the pack when it arrives. The pack’s own ingredient list and instructions are the authority on its contents — always read them, especially if you are buying for someone with an allergy or a dietary restriction.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is it very dark chocolate?
It is dark rather than milk, so less sweet and more cocoa-forward. The cocoa percentage is printed on the wrapper.
How many bars do I get?
Two bars of 30g each, 60g in total.
What if it arrives melted or discoloured?
Chocolate that has softened and reset may look pale or grey. That is bloom, and it is safe to eat. If it has arrived misshapen, leaking or with a broken seal, send us a photograph and we will sort it out.
Is it halal?
Read the pack. Some imported brands carry a halal mark and some do not, and we will not claim a certification the manufacturer has not given. If it matters for your order, message us first and we will tell you exactly what the pack we hold says.
How do I check the expiry date?
It is printed on the pack — usually on the base, the seal or the back panel, and often as a “best before” date. Check it as soon as your order arrives. If it is unreadable or very close, message us and we will replace it.
